Leslie Curry, PhD, MPH, is Senior Research Scientist in Health Policy and Management at the Yale School of Public Health, Lecturer in Yale College, core faculty at the Yale Global Health Leadership Institute and Associate Director of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Training Program at Yale Center for Outcomes Research. Leslie’s research focuses on management, culture and organizational performance in diverse health care settings in the U.S. and internationally. She is especially interested in the development and scale up of innovative, evidence-based health practices, programs and policies and regularly collaborates with government agencies and health care providers in these efforts.

International work includes: 1) In South Africa, collaboration with the Foundation for Professional Development on the Advanced Health Management Program (AHMP). The program focuses on providing health professionals with the management skills necessary to run efficient, effective health care facilities and to have them meet the needs of patients with HIV/AIDS. 2) In the U.K., The Yale Health and Social Care Strategic Leadership Programme is offered to executives and providers across the National Health Service in the United Kingdom (U.K.). Grounded in a framework of strategic problem solving and leadership, the program prepares delegates to lead in an increasingly complex system and catalyse partnerships across disciplines to affect system-wide improvements, 3) In China, The Yale Hospital Management and Leadership Program engages hospital management teams in lectures and exercises to strengthen leadership and management, team problem solving capacities, and effective followership, and 4) In Tanzania, South Africa, Mozambique and Nigeria, Project Last Mile (PLM), which uses The Coca-Cola Company’s logistic, supply chain and marketing expertise to improve health systems across Africa in a sustainable way. Leslie is leading the qualitative research evaluation.

Her work has been supported by a variety of funders including NIH, AHRQ, The Commonwealth Fund, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and The World Bank. Leslie is a recognized expert in qualitative and mixed methods and regularly teaches at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels.
