Masters of Science in Epidemiology and Public Health (M.S. in EPH) Admissions

Admissions decisions for the M.S. in EPH degree are made by the Yale Graduate School in collaboration with the School of Public Health. The application deadline is December 15, 2007. All candidates begin their program in the fall term. All applicants are notified of final action by April 1st. The non-refundable application fee for 2007-2008 is $85.

Be certain to express your specific interest in the M.S. in EPH program offered through the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences when selecting your Program of Study in the Online Application.

Degree Requirements:
Biostatistics Track

The candidate should have an undergraduate degree with major emphasis in a quantitative science. Mathematics majors are typical applicants to the program, although applicants with training in a variety of areas are encouraged to apply. At a minimum, all applicants should have completed the following coursework, with a minimum GPA of B or better, prior to matriculation:

  • Calculus (one year)

Degree Requirements:
Chronic Disease Epidemiology Track

The candidate should have a basic understanding of quantitative science and statistics. Typically, we expect candidates with strong science backgrounds to apply who have demonstrated competency in statistical analysis and logical thinking. Applicants from rigorous programs in the biological or social sciences will be given preference. Persons already holding science Ph.D.s, candidates from the pharmaceutical industry or medical practitioners are also likely degree applicants. At a minimum, applicants should have taken one year of coursework in statistics or equivalent prior to enrolling in the Chronic Disease Epidemiology program track.

General Requirements:

All applicants must submit the results of their Graduate Record Examinations (GRE). For information regarding GRE registration and test administration, please visit the Educational Testing Service (ETS) website. The institution code for the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences is 3987.

Foreign nationals whose undergraduate, graduate or professional degrees were obtained from a country where English is not the primary language of instruction must also submit an official test score for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) in addition to the above. The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences institution code for ETS is 3987.
