McKinley Kelcy, a first year student in the Health Care Management program, discovered a passion for hospital administration while doing her undergraduate degree in public health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She is also passionate about innovation and continued her internship with the Carolinas HealthCare System’s innovation engine into her first semester at Yale in order to see them through a pilot program.
In addition to her studies, McKinley is an InnovateHealth Yale (IHY) Fellow, helping to create a culture for social entrepreneurship and innovation at Yale. This spring she is also involved in the planning of the Yale Center for Biomedical and Interventional Technology’s Hackathon for Health, focusing on hospital readmissions and patient experience. Growing on last fall’s hackathon, she expects more schools to be involved and is excited by the fact that after the last event, a number of teams continued working on their projects that focused on medical innovation.
