HazMat Class

Members of the CT Partnership include key stakeholder organizations and agencies in public health professional development in CT. Through the CT Partnership structure, members assess practitioner training needs, share resources to develop and deliver trainings and identify opportunities for student internships and projects that benefit underserved populations.

AHEC

Connecticut Area Health Education Center Program (AHEC)

The Connecticut Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Program provides continuing education resources for an array of health professions, recruits under-represented and disadvantaged persons into health care careers and conducts health promotion activities. We help communities identify and address current and projected needs and facilitate community-academic partnerships that address local health care issues by providing these core functions.

The Connecticut AHEC Program, at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, brings the resources of the Health Center to virtually all of Connecticut's 169 towns and cities. There are four AHEC regional offices in Connecticut that together provide statewide coverage.

CADH

Connecticut Association of Directors of Health (CADH)

The Connecticut Association of Directors of Health (CADH) is a nonprofit organization, comprised of Connecticut’s local heath directors, that works to strengthen public health throughout the state.  Since it was incorporated in 1996, CADH has and continues to convene, engage, mobilize, and support Connecticut's local health departments and fortify their leadership role in establishing healthier Connecticut communities.

Connecticut Association of Public Health Nurses (CAPHN)

The Connecticut Association of Public Health Nurses is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to enhance health and wellness of all individuals and communities through public health nursing practice. The mission of CAPHN is to provide expertise in areas of public health through leadership, advocacy, education, collaboration and nursing practice.

CT Dept. Public Health

Connecticut Department of Public Health

The Department of Public Health's mission is to protect and improve the health and safety of the people of Connecticut by:

  • Assuring the conditions in which people can be healthy;
  • Promoting physical and mental health, and
  • Preventing disease, injury, and disability.
DPH is the state's lead agency for public health policy and advocacy and provides a comprehensive network of public health services working closely with local health departments. The agency also assures quality and accessibility of health services through regulation of health personnel and facilities.

Connecticut Environmental Health Association (CEHA)


CEHA is the only professional environmental health association in the state and is an affiliate of the National Environmental Health Association. Since its founding in 1954, the Association has grown to more than 300 members and continues to improve the educational and professional qualifications of persons working in Public Health. The association's aims and objectives include:
  • Encouraging and actively promoting the personal and educational development of the membership through the pursuit of higher education, by special training courses, educational conferences or by other means,
  • Maintaining at a high level, the qualifications necessary for Sanitarian registration in Connecticut and promoting the advancement of all professionals in the field of environmental health
  • Facilitating standardization of methods in general environmental health practices,
    Striving for increased recognition of Environmental Health as a profession rendering services vital to the health and well-being of the public
  • Development and support of environmental health legislation certification.
CPHA

Connecticut Public Health Association (CPHA)

The Connecticut Public Health Association (CPHA) is a statewide membership organization of over 300 public health professionals who work to protect and promote the health and safety of all our state residents. CPHA strives to improve public health through advocacy efforts, educational programs, and projects that focus on key issues, such as, prevention of chronic diseases, public health emergency preparedness, access to health care, environmental health, workforce development and health literacy. CPHA's Mentoring Organization Registry connects public health professionals to middle and high school educators and students who want to learn more about careers and concepts in the field. CPHA is the state affiliate of the American Public Health Association.

Southern Connecticut State University – Department of Public Health

The Department of Public Health at SCSU strives to be a major leader in academic public health, community service, and the conduct of research relevant to advancing the ideal of healthy people in healthy communities. Its mission is to advance the state of public health practice and to promote and protect the health of the public. The mission is executed by involving faculty, students, health professionals, officials and the public in appropriate instruction, community service and research.

UCONN

University of Connecticut Master of Public Health Program

The University of Connecticut Master of Public Health Program offers an integrated theory-practice generalist curriculum with a focus on applied practice. Our program is nationally accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). Students have opportunities to work with graduate faculty on topics in epidemiology, health services, law and policy, environmental and occupational health, and research methods.  Service learning opportunities allow students to work alongside public health professionals in tackling issues of vital interest to the state and region. Our schedule of evening classes allows prospective students to consider full or part-time study options.

Yale School of Public Health - Office of Community Health

The Office of Community Health (OCH) was established in 2008 to enhance public health practice, education, applied research and community–university health partnerships. OCH serves as a bridge to domestic and international agencies engaged in public health work and guides MPH students in the planning and selection of meaningful summer internship projects.
