Professor Barry's research focuses on regulation of health insurance markets, the politics of health reform, and policy innovation to improve chronic care. In past research, she has examined the responses of health plans, consumers, politicians, and interest groups to regulation of mental health insurance coverage. She also studied economic and organizational strategies for improving depression care in the public and private sector. More recently, Professor Barry is studying the impact of various policy initiatives to improve children’s mental health. Also, she is working with colleagues at Yale on a series of framing and media effects studies related to food policy and obesity.
