Dr. Barry’s primary research interests are functional status and quality of life in older persons and psychosocial influences on health outcomes, particularly among those with cardiovascular disease.  Her secondary research interest is the epidemiology of gender differences in aging.  As a Brookdale Leadership in Aging Fellow, Dr. Barry is evaluating the potentially reciprocal relationship between depression and disability over time in light of emerging knowledge regarding the highly dynamic nature of disability in older persons.
