Professor Desai’s primary research interest lies at the interface between mental health and medical comorbidity.  Much of his work focuses on examining the impact of psychiatric and substance use disorders on the utilization, quality, and outcomes of primary and specialty medical care.  His other areas of interest include aging, psychiatric epidemiology, mental health services research, and homelessness.  Professor Desai directs the Advanced Professional M.P.H. Program and teaches courses focused on epidemiologic research methods and data analysis.
