Cancer Prevention

Cancer prevention is one of the core strengths of the School of Public Health. Researchers are currently studying the link between nutrition and several cancers including lung, mouth and throat, esophageal, and stomach cancers. The School is also collaborating with other institutions on a five-year study to pinpoint reasons for the dramatic increase in testicular cancer, the most malignant cancer among men ages 15 to 35. Other areas of focus include breast, ovarian, and uterine cancers. Researchers are involved in interdisciplinary programs with the Yale Cancer Center’s Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program and the Prevention Research Center. Additionally, the National Cancer Institute has partnered with the School of Public Health to offer a unique pre-doctoral program focused on evaluating determinants of human cancer risk.
