Global Health

The Global Health Division has researchers working on the effects of socio-economic changes on population health and health care system in China as well as health care financing in poor rural areas of China. Researchers have helped implement a national system that makes prescriptions available and their prices known to the public. The Division also conducted the first systematic study of global health inequalities, finding that inequalities in adult and child mortality are growing and influenced by economic and social variables as well as geography. The Division has explored violence against disabled children stemming from stigma, limited educational opportunities, and lack of a social support system, as well as chronic disease prevention with an emphasis on tobacco, diet, and physical activity.
