Health Policy

The Division of Health Policy and Administration conducts research to enhance our understanding of health systems and to promote equity, efficiency, quality, and access. A recent study by the School found that differential cost-sharing approaches in employee health benefits encourage use of preventive care services while controlling a company’s overall health-care costs. A second study showed the value of HIV screening in virtually all settings. The division also has projects underway in aging, and the economics of substance abuse including alcoholism, illicit drugs, and smoking. Smoking cessation studies include lost work productivity, and cost-effectiveness of treatments, as well as policy.
