Public health students play an important role in the School’s global health agenda. Through the generous financial support of the Overlook International Foundation, School of Public Health students are conducting important research in Latin America. Students have completed UNICEF internships on HIV/AIDS projects and have volunteered with American Youth Understanding Disabilities Abroad (AYUDA) in Ecuador, helping to run a camp for children with diabetes. Through Community OutReach and Education (CORE), a student-run organization, students participate with a local non-profit organization in El Salvador to address some of the areas most vital public health needs, included providing information, training, and materials to community health advocates; teaching health education modules in elementary and secondary schools; and assisting with local reforestation projects. All M.P.H. students complete summer internships that train students and improve the health of communities.
