Health Policy and Administration
The mission of the Division of Health Policy and Administration (HPA) is to advance the health of the public by promoting a research-based approach to public and private policy making in health and medicine and by educating future leaders of the field. With regard to medical care, the division aims to enhance understanding about equity, efficiency, quality, and access to health care. Further, the division considers the determinants of health to be very broad, beyond health care alone, and take a social science approach to studying the many determinants of health and policies that affect them. Divisional faculty are involved in research and leadership activities in these areas. HPA faculty teach in the two-year M.P.H. program as well as in the Ph.D. program. Our classes combine theory, methods, skills development and practical applications to equip students to take leadership positions in health policy and management fields. Students take positions in governmental, non-profit, for profit and research organizations across the country and around the world.
