Khoshnood Receives Grant for "Drug Policy in the Islamic Republic of Iran" Study

Kaveh Khoshnood, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Epidemiology in the Division of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases, was awarded a Faculty Research Grant from the Yale Center for International and Area Studies for travel and research in connection with his study “Drug Policy in the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Khoshnood’s study will look at the causes and consequences of the evolution of drug policy in Iran, from the strict criminal justice approach imposed following the establishment of the Islamic Republic in 1979, to the government’s mid-1990’s legalization of drug addiction treatment and more recent efforts to address the country’s HIV/AIDS epidemic.
