Niccolai Selected as 2004 Teacher of the Year

Linda Niccolai, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Epidemiology in the Division of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases, has been selected by the class of 2004 as Teacher of the Year.

The class selected Niccolai for the award in recognition of the excellence she has brought to her courses “Epidemiologic Methods in STD/HIV Research” and “Public Health Issues in HIV/AIDS” (co-taught with Dr. Khoshnood), her leadership in the Minority International Research Training (MIRT) Fellowship program, and the mentoring she has provided to numerous MPH students since coming to EPH two years ago.

“It is truly an honor to be selected by such a distinguished group of students,” said Niccolai, an epidemiologist whose research is focused on sexually transmitted diseases, particularly on the behavioral aspects of prevention and partner treatment for the prevention of repeat infections. “Working with these students on a variety of levels, including teaching, academic advising, and mentoring on research projects, has been such a pleasure for me. I am glad they have enjoyed it as much as I have.”

Niccolai will speak to the class of 2004 at their commencement ceremony, and her name will be inscribed on the Distinguished Teaching Award plaque that hangs outside of Winslow Auditorium.
