Students Get Inspiration and Advice from Alumni at 2004 EPH Career DayEPH students received career information and advice from 18 EPH alumni
who returned for EPH’s Career Day, held on February 6. The day’s
program featured panel discussions on CDC and hospital research, academic
and non-profit research, and careers in consulting, pharmaceutical companies
and hospital administration. The alumni speakers on each panel gave an
overview of what they do, made suggestions to students about courses,
resumes and salaries, and then took questions from the audience. The program,
held annually, is designed to allow current students to get alumni feedback
about job search strategies, job vacancies, and information about the
different types of careers available within the field of public health.
Alumni from several EPH classes, representing employers including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Columbia and Yale Universities, Griffin Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, New Haven Home Recovery, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Purdue Pharmaceuticals, Adheris, Inc. and Pfizer Inc., participated in this year’s panel discussions. -Story by Christy Gordon, based on interview with Joanne DeBernardo,
