Chronic Disease Epidemiology Student and Levy Obtain Top Honors at American College of Physicians Connecticut Chapter Annual Scientific Meeting

Dr. Padmini Ranasinghe, an M.P.H. candidate in the Division of Chronic Disease Epidemiology (CDE) and an Internal Medicine/Preventive Medicine resident physician at Griffin Hospital, and her advisor, Becca Levy, Ph.D., associate professor in CDE and the Social and Behavioral Sciences Program, won top honors at an October 28 oral presentation and poster competition.

The poster entitled, “Prevalence of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Depression Six Months after the Tsunami in Sri Lanka,” was selected as best research poster at the American College of Physicians Connecticut Chapter Annual Scientific Meeting. Ranasinghe will present the poster at the American College of Physicians’ national meeting in April. The research was conducted in part with a Stolwijk Fellowship awarded by the Yale School of Public Health.
