Bouchet Graduate Honor Society Accepting Nominations

The Yale Chapter of the National Bouchet Graduate Honor Society is currently accepting nominations for graduate student and postdoctoral membership for induction on March 29.

Edward A. Bouchet was the first African American doctoral recipient in the United States.  He received his Ph.D. in Physics from Yale University in 1876.  Yale and Howard Universities are the founding chapters of the society and were inaugurated on the anniversary of Bouchet’s birthday, September 15, 2005.  The purpose of the Bouchet Graduate Honor Society is to recognize outstanding scholarly achievement and promote diversity and excellence in doctoral education.
