The Health Management Program Goes Global

This summer the Health Management Program collaborated with the Foundation for Professional Development and the South African Medical Association to offer an advanced health management course to public health managers in South Africa. Henry G. Dove, Ph.D., a lecturer in Health Policy & Administration, spear-headed the teaching component from Yale and taught managed care, operations analysis, and health care finance to about 30 physicians, nurses, and administrators from several South Africa provinces.

Africa faces a daunting challenge with its high prevalence of AIDS and recent increases in tuberculosis. South Africa is relying on these future health leaders to find ways to best utilize its healthcare resources during this challenging period. The Health Management Program looks forward to participating in the development of diverse programs to help public health managers as they address the challenges in their future.
