EPH Students to Present at the 7th Scientific Forum on Quality of Care and Outcomes Research in Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke Department of Epidemiology and Public Health (EPH) students, Daniela Myers ’06 and Emi Watanabe ’06, will be presenting posters at the 7th Scientific Forum on Quality of Care and Outcomes Research in Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke sponsored by the American Heart Association in Washington, D.C. on May 7. Myers poster, “Utilization of Intravenous Tissue-Type Plasminogen Activator (tPA) for Ischemic Stroke: Does Gender Matter?” studies the gender differences in receiving the use of tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA), an acute therapy for ischemic stroke patients. Co-authors on the poster include Norrina Allen, Ph.D. ’10, Jackie Dostal, Danny Sama, the late Lawrence Brass, M.D., and Judith H. Lichtman, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Division of Chronic Disease Epidemiology at EPH. Watanabe’s poster, “Use of Diagnostic Evaluation for Ischemic Stroke Patients at Academic Medical Centers: Are There Gender Differences?” examines the gender differences in the utilization of diagnostic testing for ischemic stroke patients. Besides Lichtman and Allen, other authors include Jackie Dostal, Danny Sama, and the late Lawrence Brass, M.D. |
