Class of 2004 Wins Annual EPH Food Drive

Congratulations to the Class of 2004! For the second straight year, the
Class of 2004 has won the annual food drive competition. This year, the
Class of 2004 contributed 368 points worth of food, the Class of 2005
contributed 228 points worth of food, and the faculty and staff contributed
140 points worth of food. The food will go to the Connecticut Food Bank.

Yale University Recipient of First NCI Graduate Program Partnership
in Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics

Yale University has been chosen by the National Cancer Institute (NCI)
as the first site in the nation to officially partner with the NCI for
pre-doctoral training in cancer epidemiology. Selected following a request
for applications, the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at
Yale will partner with the National Cancer Institute's Division of Cancer
Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) to create an innovative training program
utilizing the resources of both institutions. Full

Kickbusch to Chair Panel at Governance and Global Health Conference
in Berlin, Germany

Ilona Kickbusch, Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health,
Fulbright New Century Scholars 2001/2002 Distinguished Scholar Leader
and Advisor to the Director, Pan-American Health Organisation, is chairing
a panel entitled "Commitment to Health and Development in Relation
to the Millennium Development Goals: How Do the G8 Countries Compare?"
at the "Health as Foreign Policy: A U.S. -German Dialogue on Governance
and Global Health" conference to be held in Berlin, Germany on November
20-21.
Annual EPH Food Drive

On November 10, EPH students kicked off their annual food drive. The second
year class, as defending champion, has challenged the first year class
and the faculty to see which group donates the most food. The food donated
by EPH students and faculty will be pooled and entered in a competition
between EPH, the Medical, Nursing and PA schools. The result of the competition
between the schools will be announced at the Hunger and Homelessness Auction
on November 20. Food will be donated to the Connecticut Food Bank.
Bins have been placed near the mailboxes in the basement of LEPH. Please
donate any non-perishable food items before November 19th.
