Bracken Elected Next President of the Society for Epidemiological Research

Michael B. Bracken, Susan Dwight Bliss Professor of Epidemiology in the Division of Chronic Disease Epidemiology, has been elected president of the Society for Epidemiological Research.

Michael B. Bracken, Susan Dwight Bliss Professor of Epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health (YSPH), Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Neurology at the Yale University School of Medicine, and Co-Director of the Yale Center for Perinatal, Pediatric and Environmental Epidemiology, based at YSPH, has been elected the next president of the Society for Epidemiologic Research, the largest epidemiological society in the world. His one-year year term will begin in June, 2006.

Professor Bracken is a former president of the American College of Epidemiology, and previously served as head of the Division of Chronic Disease Epidemiology at YSPH. Internationally known for his research on the diseases of pregnancy and newborns, and neurological injury, he has published over 275 papers and two books. Earlier this year, Professor Bracken was elected a fellow of Green College, Oxford University.
