M.P.H.-M.B.A. Candidate Participates in Panel Lecture at The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology’s 18th Annual Scientific Meeting Josh Pashman, an M.P.H.–M.B.A. ’09 candidate, delivered a plenary panel lecture at The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology’s 18th Annual Scientific Meeting, held April 5-8. Mr. Pashman’s lecture highlighted Yale’s partnership with the Clinton Foundation in his talk “Ethiopia Hospital Management Initiative (EHMI): Strengthening Hospital Management and Systems to Improve Infection Prevention.” His presentation focused on the EHMI program’s success in establishing infection prevention guidelines and policies in the Ethiopian hospital system using the Blueprint for Hospital Management in Ethiopia. The emphasis Mr. Pashman conveyed is that first and foremost, improving infection prevention in a resource constrained setting “is a concern of human capital…. But once the light-bulbs are turned on, small steps can serve as building blocks to make great long-term impact.” Mr. Pashman previously served as the Program Manager for the Yale International Health Management Program. He has worked extensively throughout Africa, Asia, Middle East, and South America conducting research and managing programs related to HIV/AIDS and health management and systems with a variety of donors including USAID. He has also authored a number of publications including “Promotion of Hand Hygiene Techniques through use of a Surveillance Tool” published in the Journal of Hospital Infection as well as “Hospital Management in the Context of Health Sector Reform: A Planning Model in Ethiopia” in the International Journal of Health Planning and Management. Mr. Pashman holds a B.S. in Environmental Policy and an A.B. in Anthropology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. |
