The Yale Center for Public Health Preparedness is pleased to announce a conference aimed at addressing the disaster and emergency preparedness needs of diverse and vulnerable populations. The conference will take place at the Omni Hotel at Yale in New Haven, CT on April 17th and 18th, 2008.

puzzle Conference Goals and Objectives

The aim of this conference is to provide supportive information and exemplary methods of emergency response for state and local planners in an effort to reach all community members in an emergency. 

At the end of the conference, participants will:

  1. Be able to identify the different subgroups of diverse populations who may be hard to reach or who may have limited access to traditional methods of emergency assistance.
  2. Obtain practical tools and knowledge to help ensure that disaster response plans are inclusive of all community members.
  3. Have increased awareness of current emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities for diverse populations. 
  4. Have interacted with key stakeholders and service providers involved in all aspects of emergency preparedness, response and recovery.
