2008 Disaster Field Manual Training for
Local Environmental Health Professionals
Connecticut is one of five states in the nation to develop a Disaster Field Manual for local environmental health response. The Disaster Field Manual is the product of a collaborative initiative among CT state agencies, local health departments, and Yale CPHP.
On April 25th, 2008 a training was held to show how this manual has been used by environmental health practitioners in other states and how it can be used here in CT.
The training agenda included:
- Special guest speakers from the State of Iowa, Cory Frank and Heidi Peck, who discussed their use of their State’s disaster field manual to respond to emergencies, including how the manual was by Iowa environmental health professionals who responded to hurricane Katrina.
- Presentations from Connecticut state agency leads from DPH and DEP and local environmental health professionals on using manual that included examples of real emergencies that have happened in Connecticut.
