Psychosocial and Mental Health
The Yale CPHP is working to advance the public health workforce’s ability to address the psychosocial and mental health needs of people affected by disasters and emergencies.
We offer a seminar entitled: “The Trauma Response: Preparing for and Intervening with Psychological Effects of Disaster and Terrorism”. This interactive seminar is presented by Dr. Steven Berkowitz and targets local and state public health officials, first responders, and mental health professionals. Click here to download the slide set.
We also co-sponsored a one-day workshop on January 24th, 2008 entitled: "Disaster Preparedness, Response and Recovery: Linking Behavioral Health with Public Health Systems". This workshop aimed to strengthen the linkages between public health and behavioral health systems in Connecticut for disaster preparedness, response, resilience and recovery. For workshop materials, visit the web page.
We have also developed a graduate seminar entitled: "Mental Health and Psychosocial Issues in Public Health Disasters & Emergencies: Preparing, Responding and Recovering". Take a look at the curriculum page for the complete syllabus.
