Advanced Professional MPH Tracks
Advanced Professional MPH students concentrate in one of six tracks:
- Applied Biostatistics and Epidemiology
- Global Health
- Health Policy
- Social and Behavioral Sciences
- Occupational and Environmental Medicine
- Preventive Medicine
With few exceptions (see below), students begin the 11-month Advanced Professional MPH Program in early July with an intensive seven-week summer session, followed by two semesters of full-time study and graduation in May.
Note: Yale OEM fellows in the Occupational and Environmental Medicine track, Griffin Hospital residents in the Preventive Medicine track, and Yale joint MD/MPH students pursuing any track DO NOT begin the program in July and follow the 11-month schedule; instead, they complete the MPH degree over two years (four consecutive fall and spring semesters). Yale medical students interested in the Joint MD/MPH Program should contact the program director, Professor Mayur Desai, to discuss their track preference and how the MPH curriculum will be integrated into their medical studies.
Admission to the Advanced Professional MPH Program is highly competitive, as the number of seats offered is limited. Applicants are encouraged to apply early. Individuals who are interested in the program must indicate this preference, along with their preferred track, at the time of application.
