Career goal: Hospital Executive

Internship outline: Jarrard Phillips Cate & Hancock Inc. is a national strategic communications and public affairs firm, dedicated to the provider sector. Under six areas of expertise, including government relations, physician engagement and reputation building, the firm provides clients with the opportunity to effectively achieve their goals during times of significant change, crisis or opportunity. As a summer intern, Tolulope worked with the mergers and acquisition team, crisis and issue management team and reputation building team. Tolulope’s projects involved research and analysis, combined with organizing external communications for hospital leaders.

Value of experience: Heading to the “Silicon Valley of Health Care,” I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, this internship gave me exposure to different health care clients and experience with the role consultants play in assisting health care organizations from an external viewpoint – something I had never done before.

Best moment/experience: Going through a six hour brainstorming and repositioning session with a client interested in rebranding and rebuilding the reputation of his company.
