Climate Change and Sustainable Health Systems
Join Dr. Jodi Sherman, Director of the Program in Healthcare Environmental Sustainability, at her keynote address at the University of Toronto's Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation's (IHPME) Research Day 2020. This year's theme is "Climate Change and Sustainable Health Systems."
Climate change threatens to undermine the foundations of health and well-being around the world. The pressing issue of environmental sustainability in health care challenges existing conceptions of quality, economic efficiency, equity, and patient empowerment. As the health care industry is a major source of harmful emissions, it’s important to minimize the environmental footprint of health care activities while building new synergies between patient and planetary health. At IHPME's Research Day, an expert panel and keynote will gather to discuss challenges and opportunities for moving towards environmentally sustainable health care systems.
