Yale Global Health Leadership Initiative’s Continued Partnership with Tsinghua University

Yale Global Health Leadership Initiative (GHLI) is excited to announce their continued partnership with Tsinghua University. A delegation from Tsinghua University, including Professor Xue Lei, the Deputy Dean of the Institute for Hospital Management, and Ms. Liu Yanxin, the Institute’s Associate Director, will visit GHLI and the Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) on January 28 –29, 2020. During the visit, YSPH Dean Sten Vermund and Tsinghua Deputy Dean Xue will sign a Memorandum of Understanding launching a dual-degree program that includes a Master of Arts in Public Policy focused on healthcare management from Tsinghua University and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from YSPH. The 3-year program will include the first year at Tsinghua University in Beijing, the second year at YSPH in New Haven and the final year back at Tsinghua University. Dr. Mayur Desai, Associate Professor of Epidemiology, Director of the Advanced Professional MPH Program and faculty at GHLI, will oversee the dual-degree program on behalf of YSPH. The program will begin in August 2020 with dual-degree students arriving at Yale in July 2021.

Additionally, Tsinghua University and the Yale Global Health Leadership Initiative will sign an agreement to continue the Yale-Tsinghua Summer Institute for Healthcare Management. The Institute is a 2-week summer program for Tsinghua University students that are interested in learning about the US healthcare systemthrough lectures from Yale faculty and alumni, site visits to local healthcare institutions and civil service organizations and a culminating project comparing the US and Chinese health system. The Institute was launched in 2019 and between 25 – 30 students will come to New Haven in July 2020 for the 2nd Yale-Tsinghua Summer Institute.
