- 00:01Toot, toot oo tooooo
- 00:02Some bacteria are beneficial.
- 00:04Some don't really matter. Some are really bad for you.
- 00:06We'll talk about the latter. When it comes to antibiotics,
- 00:09bacteria they can treat, but if we're fighting viruses then that's an impossible
- 00:13feat. When given antibiotics you must finish every one.
- 00:16Keep on going day by day until the course is done.
- 00:19Even though you may feel you are your better self.
- 00:22The remaining resistant bacteria may be hiding
- 00:24with stealth. In the US,
- 00:26drug resistance is quite shocking.
- 00:28Counting cases per year you'll see we aren't joking.
- 00:31Gonorrhea, campylobacter
- 00:33and Candida to salmonella,
- 00:34MRSA, so much left to do.
- 00:37With Group B strep being a family affair,
- 00:38any resistance to drugs is getting harder to bear.
- 00:41The scariest one is found in your child's nose who strep pneumonia,
- 00:44we pray this figure never grows.
- 00:47There are many ways we can work to prevent,
- 00:49even small steps can help make a dent.
- 00:51Watchful waiting is what health workers advise.
- 00:54That although you feel sick it won't be your demise.
- 00:56Allow time to pass before seeking drugs.
- 00:58Be mindful of what could be cured with just hugs.
- 01:01Though if you do start to get sicker and sicker,
- 01:03go seek advice, the doctor won't snicker.
- 01:06Vaccines are vital and reduce risk of infection.
- 01:09The pneumococcal vaccination can help this reduction.
- 01:12There's even something you can do every day.
- 01:14You must wash your hands each time that you play.
- 01:17So moving on from this we all must agree,
- 01:19that this is a matter important to see.
- 01:22We all must do our part to reduce it to none,
- 01:24before it's too late and can't be undone.
