Continuing Education and Consulting for the Public Health Workforce

Continuing Education

Southern CT State University, Dept of Public Health, and the CT-RI PHTC co-sponsored an event titled "Promoting Workforce Development through Enhancing Academic Internships in Public Health." Attendees included representatives from CT agencies and organizations that have sponsored a public health intern or have interest in sponsoring an intern in the future.

The Office of Public Health Practice (OPHP) collaborates with practice and academic partners to support public health workforce development activities on the state, national and international levels. In addition to providing webinars and distance learning opportunities, OPHP conducts training needs assessments and provides consultation on workforce developments plans. OPHP leads the Connecticut Partnership for Public Health Workforce Development which brings together key training stakeholders to leverage resources and provide continuing education opportunities to Connecticut public health practitioners. Additionally, OPHP has received funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) through the Public Health Training Center program and currently is a partner with the New England Public Health Training Center
