Haven Free Clinic

The HAVEN Free Clinic is a student-run primary care clinic that addresses the health needs of the uninsured and others in the greater New Haven area.

For Students

Public health practice is a critical part of the educational experience for Yale School of Public Health students, opening the door to a wide variety of public heatlh careers. Our MPH students have  practice and applied learning opportunities that include the intensive summer internship in the United States or abroad and practice-based courses, including:

  • Community Health Research
  • Health Management
  • Health Policy
  • Public Health Practicum
  • Global Health Justice
  • Climate change, Sustainability and Public Health
Many students delve into public health practice through their work with researchers, not only in the School of Public Health, but throughout the Yale campus.

Others immerse themselves in student-run organizations such as the Haven Free Clinic, the Student Consulting Club, HealthCORE and the New Haven PAWS Project.

You might also be interested in enhancing your social entrepreneurship skills. You can do this by getting involved in global health hacks or developing a new business that taps into the training and incentives offered through Innovate Health Yale and the five prizes offered by it and other entrepreneurial organizations across the university.

Office of Public Health Practice

The Office of Public Health Practice (OPHP) supports practice, education, applied research and community–university health partnerships by building bridges between academia and the “real” world of public health. The OPHP serves as the nexus for practice-based learning, summer internships and continuing education programs at YSPH.
