Assistant Professor/Associate Professor, Environmental Toxicology

The Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the Yale School of Public Health is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual for a tenure-track position as an Environmental/Molecular Toxicologist. The successful candidate will specialize in investigating the mechanisms by which environmental factors influence health and disease. The candidate would be expected to have or will develop an active research program that leverages state-of-the-art approaches to understand molecular and cellular responses to emerging contaminants and life-style risk factors, contributing to our understanding of their impact on human health. We welcome research that complements our departmental expertise in risk assessment, the exposome, and toxicology research across diverse organ systems.

The successful applicant will be expected to: (i) develop and lead innovative, independent, and extramurally funded research programs in environmental health and toxicology, (ii) direct research projects of and serve as a mentor for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, (iii) actively participate in teaching activities in the professional curricula of the department, the school, and the university, and (iv) provide service to the department, school and university.

Responsibilities

• Conduct cutting-edge research on the molecular and cellular mechanisms in response to emerging environmental contaminants.
• Develop and maintain an active externally funded research program focused on elucidating the impact of environmental contaminants on human health and disease.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to contribute to ongoing research initiatives in risk assessment, the exposome, and toxicology research across diverse organ systems.
• Teach and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in environmental toxicology and related fields.
• Provide service to the department, school, and University through committee work, participation in events, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

• A doctoral degree in a related field by the start of appointment.
• Strong research experience in investigating molecular and cellular mechanisms in molecular toxicology, redox biology, xenobiotic metabolism, chemical carcinogenesis, environmental health, or a related field.
• A strong record of productivity and innovation as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and/or successful acquisition of extramural funding.
• Experience in teaching and mentoring at the graduate level in the discipline of environmental health sciences or a closely related field.
