I think one of the training components that sets YSPH graduates apart from other institutions is the experience in writing grant applications. When I meet with the postdoctoral fellows at Stanford today, I see how my classmates and I were at an advantage when we entered the workforce because we had the experience that plays such a large role in academic research.
PhD Competencies – Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases
- Conduct quantitative analyses of epidemiological data.
- Apply the research methodology of the student’s broader discipline to a specific research project within the student’s area of interest.
- Formulate an epidemiologic research question that addresses a gap in the literature.
