Testimonials

Our students are exceptionally talented and passionate about their personal calling to the field. The support from our donors has been critical in helping to ensure that these outstanding students can realize their professional goals without being pressured into other career tracks due to high debt burdens. Our donors are truly our partners in helping to launch the careers of future public health leaders.

Frank Grosso, PhD - Associate Dean for Student and External Affairs

Support from generous donors enabled us to launch and sustain an initiative that has grown into the Yale Center on Climate Change and Health. Our signature activities include groundbreaking research published in leading journals; a concentration for MPH students and an online certificate program that educates working professionals from around the world; a Clinic in Climate Justice; and programs that advance policy changes in Connecticut and promote sustainable practices in the healthcare sector. None of this would have been possible without donors’ faith in our vision and work.

Robert Dubrow, MD, PhD - Professor of Epidemiology (Environmental Health); Faculty Director, Yale Center on Climate Change and Health

Because of the support that we have received for the LGBTQ Mental Health Initiative, we are able to provide a home for scholars and scholarship devoted to understanding and improving the mental health of LGBTQ populations in the US and around the world. Thanks to our donors, we are able to foster highly collaborative research across schools and departments, sponsor academic events meant to spark innovation in this field, and train and educate diverse future leaders in LGBTQ mental health research.

John Pachankis, PhD - Susan Dwight Bliss Professor of Public Health; Director, Yale LGBTQ Mental Health Initiative

[I am tremendously grateful to the donors] who have given me the opportunity to pursue my education here at Yale. With the continued issue of COVID-19, public health professionals are needed now more than ever, and I feel incredibly lucky to be on my way towards joining their ranks. Thank you! I hope to use my training well towards improving the health and well-being of others.

Nicholas Chen - Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases; YSPH Class of 2023

I would not be here without the generous contribution from the Boroff-Forman Scholarship Fund. I came to YSPH with the goal of shifting into a health administration role focused on optimizing health delivery and managing teams that improved quality and cost of care. My time in the HCM program has really expanded my horizon in terms of how I can effect change in health care through a variety of leadership roles. I am so excited to keep growing and learning at YSPH.

Tobi Shitta-Bey - Health Care Management; Class of 2023

The generous scholarship I received wholly cemented my decision to attend YSPH. Due to my existing student loan debt, I knew financials would dictate my attendance, and I could not be more thrilled and grateful that YSPH was truly the best decision for me. I hope to attend medical school in the future and to become a physician leader in public health. I will always be grateful for this scholarship. I’m committed to ensure my future career serves the mission of YSPH and pays your generosity forward to the betterment of others.

Lawrence Castillo - Advanced MPH, Health Policy & Administration; Class of 2022
