Postgraduate Associate Position in Public Health Data, Modeling, and Decision Analysis

Job Description

Applications are welcomed for a NIH-funded postgraduate associate position for a 1-year term. The postgraduate associate will work under the direction of Dr. Reza Yaesoubi at the Yale School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Management. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead projects broadly related to public health data, modeling, and decision analysis. This includes, but is not limited to, developing models to estimate and project the health burden of SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and other viral pathogens in the US and developing models to measure the health and economic costs of non-pharmaceutical interventions (e.g., workspace and school closure) during pandemics.

One of the main purposes of this position is to provide hands on research experience for individuals who are considering pursuing PhD studies. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate as lead author in publications arising from this work and to communicate findings in oral presentations at national and international conferences.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor, MSc, or MPH degree in infectious disease modeling, computational biology, computational ecology, statistics, biostatistics, computer science, operations research, or related quantitative disciplines.
  • While not essential, previous experience with modeling and cost-effectiveness analysis is ideal.
  • Strong background in statistics.
  • Strong programming skills.
