Timeline for First-Year MPH Students

Fall Semester

  • Write that Resume! Check out the Resume Guidelines found in the Career Toolkit (and under Career Resources on CareerBoard)
  • Read the e-newsletter CareerTalk to find out about events and employer presentations
  • Enroll in a section of the Professional Skills Seminar
  • Jumpstart your internship search with the Internship Showcase – October 27, 2017
  • Participate in the New York City career trip – October 18, 2017
  • Meet with an awesome YSPH career counselor to discuss your summer plans

Spring Semester

  • It’s all about internships – apply, apply, apply
  • Take advantage of Yale internship funding - deadlines begin in February
  • Spend the first two days of spring break in Washington DC on the DC career trek
  • Complete your internship work plan

Timeline for Second Year Students

Fall Semester

  • Update your Resume! Add your summer internship experience
  • Brainstorm ideas for your job search with Felicia or Kelly 
  • Schedule a mock interview (or two...)
  • Apply for fellowships with fall deadlines – especially Hospital Administrative Fellowships
  • Take advantage of on-campus recruitment 
  • Participate in the New York City career trip – October 18, 2017

Spring Semester

  • Launch your job search early in the semester
  • Use the YSPH Cover Letter Guidelines found in the Career Toolkit
  • Work on your interview skills! Practice, practice, practice!
  • Utilize the Alumni Database, Yale Career Network, and Mentor Program to network with Alumni
  • Participate in the Washington DC career trip – the first two days of spring break
