Environmental Health Sciences

As the global population continues to grow and encounters increasingly limited resources, strained ecosystems and climate change, environmental health is emerging as a dominant concern in the 21st century.

At the Yale School of Public Health, our faculty and students use state-of-the-art approaches to monitor environmental exposures, evaluate health risks, discover toxicological mechanisms and design more and better environmentally friendly products. Our faculty are using the latest research methods, including metabolomics, personal sensors for monitoring environmental exposures, and analyses of chemical mixtures and the exposome, to better understand the vital connection between the environment and human health. Our research areas can be broadly organized into six emerging areas in environmental health research. For details on each of the areas, faculty specialties and labs, explore Departmental Highlights.
