Practice and community-based research and initiatives
- Interventions focused on nutrition, physical activity and community-clinical linkages, as well as policy and practice — providing opportunities for our partners and members of the Hispanic/Latino communitity of New Haven
- Local initiatives from the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS, including working with A Place to Nourish your Health (APNH) to develop and implement a peer-led initiative to improve PrEP uptake among Black and Latino men who have sex with men and evaluating the effectiveness of tele-service delivery
- Working with local Federal Qualified Health Centers: strong community collaborations with local FHQ clinics, including work at the Cornell Scott Health Center to implement and evaluate Diabetes Control programs to improve health equity
- Global initiatives led by centers, such as the through the initiatives of the Prevention Research Center, Community Alliance for Research and Engagement (CARE), and the Yale Cancer Center’s Center for Community Engagement and Health Equity, and Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA); YSPH leverages research partnerships to identify and implement equitable solutions
- CARE’s 13-year focus, which has centered on health disparities in New Haven and has led a variety of initiatives to address disparities. Most recently, CARE received a CDC Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) grant. Through REACH, CARE plans and carries out local, culturally appropriate programs to address a wide range of health issues
- The Yale Institute for Global Health, CIRA, Center for Methods in Implementation Science, Global Health Leadership Initiative and others infuse underfunded health infrastructures and communities with action-oriented research. For example, work in Uganda will inform national implementation guidelines on evidence-based TB interventions
