Requesting an Informational Interview 2

The subject line should always indicate the intent of your email, for example: “Inquiry from Yale Public Health Student”

Dear Mr. Johnson,

I’m currently a graduate student at the Yale School of Public Health concentrating in Epidemiology of Microbial Disease. I had the good fortune to hear you talk about your experience working in the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) of the CDC at the recent APHA meeting in Boston.

My dream job upon graduation (this May) would be to work at the CDC and I’d greatly value the opportunity to learn more about the ins and outs of applying to the various divisions and fellowship opportunities at CDC. I’m particularly interested in the PMF and the Allan Rosenfeld Global Health Fellowship. As an alumnus of YSPH your insights would be very valuable as I plan the next steps in my career.

Would you have a few minutes to speak with me by phone or email in the coming weeks? Just so you have an idea of my background, I’m attaching a copy of my resume.

I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you very much.
