As second year MPH students, you are eligible to enroll in the Public Health Practicum course, 500b that is offered in the spring semester https://publichealth.yale.edu/about/gateways/students/mph/practicum/courses/.

This course may be taken as an elective for those seeking an additional experiential learning course.

Unlike conventional classroom courses, the Public Health Practicum requires that you spend most of your time (100 hours) working in a public health agency on a project that aligns with your area of specialization and is also of tangible value to the organization. The emphasis is on placing students in community-based organizations and other public health service settings such as local or state health departments, where they can work on authentic public health problems and issues.

If you are interested in taking this course, we will need to discuss potential projects and placement sites that best match your particular interests and focus of study. By planning early we can ensure that you get an optimal placement and have ample time to spend in the agency when the semester begins in January.
